The adage "you get what you pay for" is just as true when dealing with your security as anything else in life. The big difference is however, your life could easily hinge on the effectiveness of your security system.
For decades alarm systems have been providing security for millions of homes and businesses. From year to year the features and benefits provided by alarm systems change rapidly. Systems can be installed that communicate using a cellular communicator and are powered totally with solar energy. Another technology feature that is available to consumers is video enhancement. Video can be integrated with your alarm system to perform a multitude of tasks.
When the kids come home from school and disarm the alarm system you can see them on your computer at work or on your smartphone while you are at the mall. In 1992 a young entrepenuer Rodney Anderson began his locksmithing business in New Castle Indiana. He offered a full lineup of services auto, home, commercial, safes, etc. As he went about his day to day tasks he began to be approached by a few of his clients inquiring about surveillance cameras, keyless entry and security alarm systems. He did not offer any of those services and did not have a clue how to help his clients fill their needs.
Rodney has an older brother Ron Anderson who worked in the recording industry for Polygram Records. Ron had a degree in electronics engineering and several years experience. Some time in 1993 Ron was downsized out of his job. One day while the brothers were visiting, Rodney explained the issue of his clients requesting electronic services that he could not perform. He asked Ron if he would be interested in joining him in the company and bringing his electronic background into the mix. Since he was between jobs, Ron thought it would be something worth trying. Have you ever ask yourself that question? Have you ever considered the differences? Let’s say the cost of Widget A is $1000 and the cost of Widget B is $500. Up front there is a price difference between the two Widgets of $500. Which of the two Widgets actually cost more? Widget A or Widget B?

There was a time when security alarm systems provided a very limited amount of integration options. Today’s security alarm systems have the capability of integrating smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, HVAC control, surveillance, smart phone applications, temperature monitoring as well as personal emergency response options to allow senior citizens to remain in their homes.
The two primary reasons for purchasing a security alarm system remains personal safety and property protection. Alarm systems come equipped with personal emergency panic/duress features to aid home and business owners in the event an invasion occurred. Photoelectric smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors can be integrated into the security alarm system offering 24-hour immediate detection alerting you when you are awake or asleep to a life threatening danger.

The majority of the time purchasing an alarm system is a re-active decision. Someone burglarizes your home or business, your neighbor’s home or your Mother’s home. Very few people sit down and make a conscience decision to be pro-active and purchase an alarm system prior to being violated by an intruder.
Whether you fall into the first or second category, it is important to take a few simple things into consideration before you make the final decision to move forward with an alarm system purchase.
