In 1992 a young entrepenuer Rodney Anderson began his locksmithing business in New Castle Indiana. He offered a full lineup of services auto, home, commercial, safes, etc. As he went about his day to day tasks he began to be approached by a few of his clients inquiring about surveillance cameras, keyless entry and security alarm systems. He did not offer any of those services and did not have a clue how to help his clients fill their needs.
Rodney has an older brother Ron Anderson who worked in the recording industry for Polygram Records. Ron had a degree in electronics engineering and several years experience. Some time in 1993 Ron was downsized out of his job. One day while the brothers were visiting, Rodney explained the issue of his clients requesting electronic services that he could not perform. He asked Ron if he would be interested in joining him in the company and bringing his electronic background into the mix. Since he was between jobs, Ron thought it would be something worth trying. The two brothers joined forces and created Anderson Lock and Security offering surveillance, security alarms and keyless entry systems along with locksmithing services.
The partnership worked out very well. Soon the company began to grow and add new clients daily. The team offered services to both residential and commercial clients. In the later part of the decade, the security market began to change sharply. Large national firms such as ADT and Brinks began to offer residential systems for free or very little money up front. This posed a serious problem for Anderson Lock and Security as well as other independent firms in the security business.
Rodney and Ron decided to expand their offering of services to include automated lighting, audio/video services, home theatre, communications and structured wiring. By offering more services the goal was to overcome some of the very high competition in the security market. After the decision to offer more services was reached, it was now time to once again change the name of the company to reflect the changes. Anderson Systems Integration was born offering a complete lineup of integrated low voltage services.
Today, eighteen years later, ASI offers integrated services to residential, commercial, industrial and municipal agencies throughout Indiana. Our service area stretches from Bedford in the South to Portland in the North. ASI is constantly researching technologies looking for additional services to add to the lineup of services to offer their client base. From a locksmith shop to a systems integration company, that is how it all began.
